In April 2017, Culture Toronto held it's first Studio Ghibli Double Feature because we love anime and Hayao Miyazaki does some of the best anime movies ever - since the date was April 1st, we call these events Foolish for Ghibli! As we branch out using other anime, we'll never forget the standard we started with - now these are Foolish for Ghibli PLUS events!

After a ton of votes, Culture Toronto is pleased to announce that this Foolish For Ghibli PLUS Double Feature will be showcasing Kiki's Delivery Service and Your Name as the fan favourites! This event is more than just a screening, where cosplay is not only encouraged, but rewarded, as we vote for the best costumes with prizes sponsored by Toronto's Hairy Tarantula! There will also be the most authentic Studio Ghibli merchandise you've ever seen in Toronto as we have personally hand imported everything directly from Japan.  This is finally so much more than a theatre experience - you're bound to leave with a bunch of great memories of food and people and merchandise,  and with pictures too. To top it all off, everyone who purchases a ticket is eligible to win our epic door prizes.

At The Door: $50 + HST

THE DEAL: The cost includes 2 movies in a historic theatre in Toronto near the beaches. If this were a VIP cineplex event just showing the movies alone that would be $60 + HST! The cake you're getting is free, worth up $8-16 depending on how many slices you get to have. The Ghibli merchandise there is absolutely exclusive, not seen anywhere in Toronto and 100% imported from Japan, personally by CTO's Sherif. The effort of many human beings in spreading the word and making sure your experience runs without a hiccup is priceless as everyone on the team wants you to have an epic anime and cosplay experience. Live music by a no face and a performance by Bear Sailor Moon is icing on the cake :) - now do you see how awesome the price is?

FAQ

Q: When will I receive my tickets?

A: We don't actually send out physical tickets. When you buy your tickets, we put your name on a guest list while you are sent a digital confirmation of your purchase.

Q: Do I have to cosplay?

A: Of course you don't! Come any way you want. There is a cosplay contest though that we will all watch and enjoy.

Q: Is this a family friendly event?

A: Kiki's Delivery Service is rated G, but Your Name is rated PG (parental guidance recommended). A boy and a girl sort of switch bodies so, careful?

Q: Are the movies subtitled or dubbed?

A: When you come to our anime events, you start to get polls about what we should watch next and whether they should be dubbed or subbed. Your Name will definitely be subtitled but Kiki's will likely be dubbed for the kids in the audience.
