Al McCormond used to make teeth. He was so good at this profession that he taught for many years at George Brown College. Why is this relevant to Mariner Bladecrafting? Well, to make teeth is an extremely precise profession, working with metal, ceramics and more interesting materials. When Al goes to make you a practice blade, he’s not just some hobbyist, he is truly a master craftsman, thinking of so many things to make sure these swords don’t just perform well in training but they will outlive you.

I was first introduced to Aluminum training blades at the Academy of European Medieval Martial Arts (HEMA school in Toronto) and they have some incredible benefits over wood or even steel:

1. Cheap - Aluminum blades are as long lasting as steel, but are MUCH cheaper.

2. Light - The blades are metal but still light.

3. Durable - Way better than wood (and even cheaper) and I have personally hacked a ton with Mariner Bladecrafting blades with friends, and none are even close to breaking or being out of commission.
