Jay Maynard got a lot of attention for his Tron Costume in the early 2000s (Jimmy Kimmel, Southpark and an audition on America's got talent), but a lot of that was from the public's amusement with what was perceived to be a dork subculture. The new age of cosplayers are young, hip and put way more into their character costumes!
