We don’t see monsters as they are; we see monsters as we are.
— Sharifu

The Idea

Maybe you were at a sleep over and your friends started hearing things, noises in the shadows, and hilarious panic ensued. Maybe you were told that if you say “bloody Mary” in the mirror 3 times in a dark room, when you turn on the lights, SHE will be there ready to take you into the depths of hell. Or maybe you are an adult and there’s a little voice in your head that says “the world is better without you” - don’t listen to that asshole.

Monsters have always been part of humanity. It’s not about whether they are real or not, it’s about understanding what they mean. People of past generations didn’t think of mythical monsters as unreal only to write them off as meaningless - that’s a modern phenomenon. The minotaur in the labrynth might represent what we are not willing to face. The Medusa might represent the fear of female power. Perhaps sea monsters with all their power in the vast dark water represent the depths of the mind, and what you may not be able to face below the surface without great strength indeed.

The Twisted Tales of Demon Killer Sharifu is an exploration of our monsters - and how to kill them.

How ‘killing a demon’ may manifest will naturally vary widely. Even when successful, do they ever really die or do we just learn to acknowledge and subdue them?

About The Author

I grew up on anime like Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures, Akira, Kenshin, Ranma 1/2, Guyver… the list goes on and on… and when you’re young, there’s nothing like a straight forward demon killing in Japanese anime fashion. It seems that the taste for dead demons has not gone out of style either, literally, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba from Japan and Kpop demon hunters are some of the hottest franchises in existence today (2026)

As one gets older though, as one encounter real life afflictions and real pain, “demons” can take on new meaning - anxiety, depression, excessive mourning of the dead even - these can feel like demons, paralyzing us, stealing time and opportunities, ruining relationships, even killing some…

In real life, sometimes it’s not really about killing a demon but making peace with it.

Many struggle silently or give up and accept that the aspect of themselves in question will just never change. “When demons become friends.”

Many give in and have tragic ends.

On march 1st, 2024, music became very important in my life as I seriously began learning guitar and resolved not to quit again

Playing guitar is a constant joy in my life and if there are real demons out there, they would hate the joy you can create with your hands through playing an instrument. Music would be a powerful weapon indeed for a demon killer like Sharifu, which is why he has a guitar.

THE CREATION PROCESS

The story, the characters, the music - these are all mine and original. I have been writing this story and designing characters and plot for years.

I am being totally transparent that I have used the tools of the day to enhance aspects of the audio and visuals, including but not exclusive to ai.

I’m also good with special effects so I have used this skill to create things like Sharifu’s guitar blasts and bunny Pedro’s ability to inhale enemies.

The idea that would make me want to finish my story was from 2024/2025, with a song I wrote called Demon Killer / Sharifu's song..

I was beginning to realize that to truly overcome things, I need to transform.. that old self has to die. Some memories are like chains and everytime you rerun them, that pain is reborn.

And so the phrase, “to kill your demons, you have to die” was born.

I couldn’t even play guitar and sing at the same time back when I wrote this.. shout out to my friend

Daniel Hiatt who covered Sharifu’s Song and showed me how it COULD sound with more skills and in different genre’s. He has Johnny Cash vibes with metal flair!

Needless to say I have a lot more songs planned for this!

Thank you to the #DEMONKILLERS that have made this ANIMATED story possible

THANK YOU FOR WATCHING

If you’re here for the journey, as twisted it may be, as dark as the road may become.. thank you.

Sharifu is independent but he needs allies.

We all do.
